Ok, so there are few more days until the Gore-Tex Transalpine Run and the feeling is positive. We have done all we can to prepare with the time we have had, mixing different distances from 10 km up to 50 km. We have mixed it up with different environments and terrains. But stamina isn't everything. To be able to complete a run like this your legs, knees and entire body has to be prepared for the task at hand which means we have to combine running with weight training. To truly push ourselves we have been running intervals up and down a ski slope in here in Gothenburg.
The thing to realize is that the world doesn't just stop because I have a big project..
The amount of time we have spent on working out and getting ready is approximately 7 to 10 hours a week. The thing to realize is that the world doesn't just stop because I have a big project. I also have a job as a tattoo artist with my own studio. I am the Creative Director at Nowa Communications. We (Freak Kitchen) have been recording our 9th album, meaning PR, recordings and a music video shoot, which, of course, takes up a lot of time as well. And, most important of all, I have a family. I have a wife and kids. These are all things that requires my time and attention. Having a lot on my plate means I need to be disciplined. I have to communicate, be organized and plan to make it all work.
My partner in the RUN2 charity race is Mikael who is a firefighter, and as most of you know, we have had an extremely warm and dry summer, leading to a lot of extra work for him as well. Mikael also has two young children. This means we have to seize every opportunity to train and get ready, but all things considered, we have trained well and are as ready as we can be.
Another part of getting prepared is going through the gear and things that generates much needed energy to be able to run for hours. Therefore we have spent plenty of time browsing forums online for inspiration and tips. Going through gear on webshops, buying and testing new gear. I will be dedicating a post to go through the gear I will be using during TAR RUN2.
We feel ready. We feel strong and are looking forward to the coming adventure.
To sum up, it has been a challenge to find the time needed to get prepared, but the overall feeling is positive. We feel ready. We feel strong and are looking forward to the coming adventure. We are flying down on Saturday, 1 september and the Transalpine Run RUN2 kicks of on Sunday 2 september.
